The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The Companions of the Right 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 And extended shade, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 We have made them virgins, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
