The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 And clustered plantains, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
