The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 (a calamitous Event) that shall turn things upside down: 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 And a few of later ages, 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,- 29 and continuous shade, 30 and flowing water, 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 And made them virginal, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
