The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 facing one another. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 and spreading shade 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins. 36 Lovers, friends, 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
