Al-Taareq

The Comet (Al-Taareq)

17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 On the day when hidden thoughts shall be searched out. 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 So I call to witness the rain-producing sky, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 And no trifle. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 But I too am devising a plan. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
