The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 Who will be honoured 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring - 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And shade extended 30 and waters gushing, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 on raised couches. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 and made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
