The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And shade extended 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 for those on the Right, 38
