The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So they will become like fine dust, scattered in a shaft of light. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 near to flowing water 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And raised couches; 34 Indeed, We have produced the women of Paradise in a [new] creation 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the fellows on the right hand. 38
