He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and fears (Allah), 9 you ignore him. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 olives, dates, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 And fruit and grass - 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
