The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and extended shade, 30 And water poured out 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 and raised couches 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those on the right. 38
