The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And clustered plantains, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 and We made them spotless virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
