The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In Gardens of Delight. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 Seated on couches wrought in gold and encrusted with precious stones, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and spreading shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virgins. 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For those on the right. 38
