The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Terror descends 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In gardens of delight; 12 a good many of those of olden times, 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
