The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 (will be) among thornless Lote trees. 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And carpets raised. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 And made them virginal, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
