۞ And indeed We bestowed aforetime on Ibrahim (Abraham) his (portion of) guidance, and We were Well-Acquainted with him (as to his Belief in the Oneness of Allah, etc.). 51 When he said to his father and his people, "What are these statues to which you are devoted?" 52 They replied: "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said, "You were certainly, you and your fathers, in manifest error." 54 They said, “Have you brought the Truth to us, or are you just making fun?” 55 He said, "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, He Who created them (from nothing): and I am a witness to this (Truth). 56 And [I swear] by Allah, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away." 57 He shattered them all, except the biggest among them, that perhaps they may question it. 58 They asked (on return): "Who has done this to our gods? He is surely a mischief-monger." 59 Some among them said, “We heard a youth speak ill of them – the one called Ibrahim.” 60 The others said: "Bring him, then, before the eyes of the people that they may see (what will be done to him)." 61 "Did you do this to our gods, O Abraham?" they enquired. 62 He answered, "Rather this biggest one of them did it. Ask them, if they can speak." 63 Then gathered they apart and said: Lo! ye yourselves are the wrong-doers. 64 Then they were made to hang down their heads: Certainly you know that they do not speak. 65 (Abraham) said, "Do ye then worship, besides Allah, things that can neither be of any good to you nor do you harm? 66 Fie upon you and upon all that you worship beside Allah. Do you have no sense?" 67 They said: "Burn him, and come to the support of your gods, if you are going to do anything." 68 We said: O fire! be thou cool and peace unto Ibrahim. 69 They had sought to do evil to him, but We caused them to be the worst losers, 70 for We saved him and Lot, [his brother's son, by guiding them] to the land which We have blessed for all times to come. 71 We gave him, in excess, Isaac, and Jacob (for a grandson); and We made each righteous 72 And We made them leaders who guide by Our command, and We sent them the divine revelation to do good deeds and to keep the prayer established and to give charity; and they used to worship Us. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge and delivered him from the city which practiced abomination. They were indeed a wicked people. 74 And We admitted him into Our mercy. Indeed, he was of the righteous. 75
