The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with a shaking [severe,] 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 they will be waited on by ageless youths 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will hear no nonsense there or talk of sin, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 As for the People on the Right, how fortunate shall be the people on the Right! 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water poured out 31 And abundant fruit, 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
