The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and a few from later times. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining face to face. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 The reward for what they did. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 and amid the extended shade 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 And made them virginal, 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
