The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 no soul will deny its coming. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On lined couches, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and flowing water, 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 We have created maidens perfectly 35 and made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
