A throng of the ancients 39 And a multitude of those (on the Right Hand) will be from the later times (generations). 40 But those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) those of the left hand -- 41 In fierce hot wind and boiling water, 42 And shadow of black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor honorable. 44 and before that they lived at ease, 45 But persisted in that greater sin, 46 and would say: "What! After we have died and become mere dust and bones, shall we, forsooth, be raised from the dead? 47 Will our ancient forefathers be resurrected too? 48 Say: "Indeed, the earlier and the later generations 49 Are going to be assembled on the appointed time of a Day Known. 50 and then, verily, O you who have gone astray and called the truth a lie, 51 Will eat of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 and fill your bellies with it, 53 "And drink boiling water on top of it, 54 "Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!" 55 Such will be their dwelling on the Day of Judgment. 56 We have created you, so why do you not believe? 57 Have you seen sperm? 58 Did you create it, or are We the Creator? 59 We mete out death among you, and We are not to be outrun, 60 In order that We may bring in your place the likes of you and make you grow into what you know not. 61 You certainly knew about (your) first development. Why do you not take heed? 62 Have you considered the seeds you till? 63 Is it you that cause it to grow, or are We the causers of growth? 64 If We willed, We verily could make it chaff, then would ye cease not to exclaim: 65 "Verily, we are ruined! 66 nay, we have been robbed!' 67 Have you considered the water which you drink? 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds, or are We the senders? 69 Did We will, We would make it bitter; so why are you not thankful? 70 Have you ever considered the fire which you kindle? 71 Did you make its timber to grow, or did We make it? 72 We have made it a Reminder (for the Hell-fire, in the Hereafter); and an article of use for the travellers (and all the others, in this world). 73 So glorify your Lord, the most supreme. 74
