A numerous company from among the first, 39 And a multitude from the later generations. 40 As for the Companions of the Left 41 (They will be) in the midst of a Fierce Blast of Fire and in Boiling Water, 42 And the shade of black smoke, 43 Neither cool nor honorable. 44 and before that they lived at ease, 45 and had persisted in the Great Sin. 46 And they used to say: When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised again, 47 What, and our fathers, the ancients?' 48 Proclaim, “Without doubt all – the former and the latter.” 49 Shall most surely be gathered together for the appointed hour of a known day. 50 Then you, the erring and the deniers, 51 Will eat of the tree of Zaqqum, 52 and will have to fill your bellies therewith, 53 and thereupon you shall drink boiling water, 54 And drink as drinks the thirsty camel. 55 Thus shall they be entertained on the Day of Recompense. 56 We have created you, why do you not then assent? 57 Have you thought about what (sperm) you ejaculate? 58 Do you yourselves create it, or are We the Creators? 59 It is We Who have ordained death among you, and We have not been beaten – 60 from changing your Forms and creating you (again) in (forms) that ye know not. 61 And verily ye know the first creation. Why, then, do ye not reflect? 62 Have you ever considered the seed which you cast upon the soil? 63 Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower? 64 Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry powder, and ye would be left in wonderment, 65 That, “We have indeed been penalised!” 66 nay, we have been robbed!' 67 Have you thought about the water you drink? 68 Is it you who caused it to descend from the cloud, or is it We Who cause it to descend? 69 If We willed, surely We would make it brackish. Wherefore give ye not thanks? 70 Have you seen the fire which you kindle? 71 Was it ye who made the tree thereof to grow, or were We the grower? 72 We have made it as a reminder of hell and as a utility for travellers in the jungle. 73 Then, exalt the Name of your Lord, the Great. 74
