Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Resurrection Verifier; 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 Would that you knew (in detail) what the Inevitable is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 And as for 'Aad they were destroyed by a wind, furious, roaring. 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 When the flood rose high and covered the whole land, We carried you in the Ark. 11 So that We may make it a reminder to you, and that the retaining ear might retain it. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 So he shall be in a life, well-pleasing. 21 In a lofty garden, 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 'Eat and drink with wholesome appetite for that you did long ago, in the days gone by.' 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 and had not known my account. 26 Oh, would that it had been death! 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 There hath perished from me my authority. 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 On this day, they will have no friends 35 neither any food saving foul pus, 36 which only the sinners eat". 37
