Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The indubitable event! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what do you know what that indubitable event is? 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 And when the waters rose (high) We carried you in the sailing (Ark), 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur, 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 So he shall be in a life of pleasure, 21 in a lofty garden, 22 The fruits of which are near at hand: 23 (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 and knew nothing of my reckoning. 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 My wealth has not availed me. 28 Gone from me is my authority." 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 He did not believe in God the supreme, 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 Which none but sinners eat. 37
