Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Sure Reality! 1 How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 The Thamud and the Ad denied the (possibility of a) sudden calamity, calling it false. 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Then do you see of them any remains? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 That We might make it a Message unto you, and that ears (that should hear the tale and) retain its memory should bear its (lessons) in remembrance. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he shall say, 'Here, take and read my book! 19 “I was certain that I will confront my account.” 20 And so he will find himself in a happy state of life, 21 In high empyrean 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 Nor known whatever was my reckoning! 26 Would that death had taken us away for good. 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 “All my power has vanished.” 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 That is why he has no friend today, 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
