Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Sure Reality! 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what will make you realize what the Inevitable Hour is? 3 Samood and Ad called the striking calamity a lie. 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Then seest thou any of them left surviving? 8 And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. 12 Hence, [bethink yourselves of the Last Hour,] when the trumpet [of judgment] shall be sounded with a single blast, 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 And the heaven shall be rent in sunder, it on that Day shall be frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 In a lofty Paradise, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 O would that it had made an end (of me): 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 (It will be said): "Seize him and fetter him, 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 Nor any food save filth 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
