Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The true event! 1 How tremendous is the true event! 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 So destroyed were the Thamud by a storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And as to Ad, they were destroyed by a roaring, violent blast. 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Can you see any remnant of them now? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 so that We might make all this a [lasting] reminder to you all, and that every wide-awake ear might consciously take it in. 12 Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), 13 And the earth and the mountains are borne away and crushed with a single crushing. 14 On that Day will come what is to come. 15 And the sky will be rent asunder, for it will that Day be flimsy, 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 in a high Garden, 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand – he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 Oh, would that it had been the ending! 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 Lay hold on him, then put a chain on him, 30 and then let him enter Hell. 31 “Then bind him inside a chain which is seventy arm-lengths.” 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
