Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 What is the Inevitable? 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 and the 'Ad were destroyed by a furious wind 6 Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 That We might make it a remembrance for you, and the keen ear (person) may (hear and) understand it. 12 So when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 and the heavens will be rent asunder, 16 The angels will appear by its sides and, on that Day, eight [angels] will bear your Lord's throne above them. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand – he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; 21 In a lofty garden, 22 The fruits of which are near at hand: 23 "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 And I had not known what my account was: 26 Would that it (my death) had ended it all! 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 [and] all my power of argument has died away from me!" 29 The angels will be told, "Seize and chain them, 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 Verily, He used not to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor. 34 That is why he has no friend today, 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
