Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 What is the Inevitable Reality? 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 Thamood and Ad cried lies to the Clatterer. 4 Thamood, they were destroyed by the violent shout (of Gabriel), 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 and the earth and the mountains are carried aloft and are crushed to bits at one stroke, 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day you shall be exposed to view-- no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 Certainly I thought that I should encounter my reckoning.' 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 in a lofty Garden 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 and neither known this my account! 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 my authority is gone from me.' 29 Lay hold of him and chain him; 30 "And burn ye him in the Blazing Fire. 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
