Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language – Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 I swear by the Book that makes things clear: 2 We have made it an Arabic Koran in order that you understand. 3 And Verily, it (this Quran) is in the Mother of the Book (i.e. Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz), before Us, indeed Exalted, full of Wisdom. 4 Shall We then take away from you the admonition because ye are a people extravagant? 5 We have sent many a prophet to earlier peoples 6 Yet never did a Prophet come to them but they mocked him. 7 Then We destroyed men stronger (in power) than these, and the example of the ancients has passed away (before them). 8 Yet, if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will answer: 'The Almighty, the Knower created them' 9 Who hath made for you the earth a bed, and hath made for you paths therein that haply ye may be directed. 10 That sends down (from time to time) rain from the sky in due measure;- and We raise to life therewith a land that is dead; even so will ye be raised (from the dead);- 11 It is He who has created everything in pairs and the ships and cattle for you to ride, 12 so that you can sit upon their backs and then remember the Favors of your Lord and say: 'Exaltations to Him who has subjected these to us otherwise, we ourselves were not capable of it, 13 And to our Lord we shall surely return." 14 The pagans have considered some of His servants as His children. There is no doubt that the human being is simply ungrateful. 15
