Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! 2 And what do you know what that indubitable event is? 3 The people of Thamud and Ad denied the Day of Judgment. 4 The Thamuds were destroyed by a violent blast of sound. 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 And they disobeyed their Lord's apostle, so He laid hold of them with a grip increasing. 10 When the water rose in flood, We bore you in the ark, 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 On that Day, he whose Record is given to him in his right hand will say: “Lo! Read my Record! 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 The fruits of which are near at hand: 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure – the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 Oh, would that it had been death! 27 My wealth has not helped me a thing 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” 30 and then let him enter Hell. 31 Then thrust him into a chain the length of which is seventy cubits. 32 "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High. 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 Wherefore for him here this Day there is no friend. 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
