The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they were not expecting an account 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
