The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
There hath asked an asker for the torment about to befall. 1 to those who deny the truth. No power can hinder God 2 [It is] from Allah, owner of the ways of ascent. 3 To whom the angels and the soul take a day to ascend, whose length is fifty thousand years. 4 So be patient (O Muhammad SAW), with a good patience. 5 Surely they think it to be far off, 6 And We see it nigh. 7 The day when the sky will become as molten copper, 8 And the mountains will be like flakes of wool, 9 And no friend will ask [anything of] a friend, 10 Though they will be put in sight of each other,- the sinner's desire will be: Would that he could redeem himself from the Penalty of that Day by (sacrificing) his children, 11 his wife, his brother, 12 And the family in which he was. 13 and all persons of the earth, if only he could thus save himself. 14 But nay! for lo! it is the fire of hell 15 will strip-off the flesh 16 It invites he who turned his back [on truth] and went away [from obedience] 17 And accumulated wealth and hoarded it. 18 ۞ Verily man is impatient by nature: 19 Being greatly grieved when evil afflicts him 20 And niggardly when good touches him; 21 Not so, however, those who consciously turn towards God in prayer. 22 Those who are regular in their prayers. 23 those who give a due share of their wealth 24 For those who beg, and for the needy who cannot even ask. 25 who confirm the Day of Reckoning 26 And those who are fearful of their Lord's torment 27 Surely no one can be secure from the punishment of his Lord, -- 28 who guard their carnal desires 29 Save in regard to their spouses or those whom their right hands own; so verily they are not blameworthy 30 But those who trespass beyond this are transgressors;- 31 And those who are faithful to their trusts and their covenant 32 and perform their witnessings, 33 And those who protect their prayers. 34 Those shall be in Gardens, high-honoured. 35
