Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
We sent Noah to his people, saying, 'Warn thy people, ere there come on them a painful chastisement.' 1 He said: "O my people, I warn you clearly 2 that you should worship God [alone] and be conscious of Him. Pay heed to me. 3 so that He may forgive you some of your sins, and grant you respite until a term known [to Him alone]: but, behold, when the term appointed by God does come, it can never be put back - if you but knew it!" 4 He said: "O Lord, I called my people night and day, 5 "But all my calling added nothing but to (their) flight (from the truth). 6 And whenever I called them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, and wrapped them in their garments, and persisted, and waxed very proud. 7 I called to them clearly, 8 and indeed, I spoke to them both publicly and in secret: 9 and told them, "Ask forgiveness from your Lord; He is All-forgiving". 10 'He will send rain to you in abundance; 11 And will give you increase of wealth and sons, and give you gardens and springs of water. 12 What is the matter with you, [that you fear not Allah (His punishment), and] you hope not for reward (from Allah or you believe not in His Oneness). 13 While He has created you in (different) stages [i.e. first Nutfah, then 'Alaqah and then Mudghah, see (VV. 23:13, 14) the Quran]. 14 Behold ye not in what wise Allah hath created seven heavens in storeys. 15 setting in them the moon as a light and the sun as a lantern? 16 ‘And it is Allah Who made you grow like vegetation from the earth.’ 17 He will then return you back to it, and bring you out again. 18 God has made the earth for you a spreading, 19 That you may follow therein roads of passage.' " 20
