Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Say (O Muhammad): It is revealed unto me that a company of the Jinn gave ear, and they said: Lo! we have heard a marvellous Qur'an, 1 "which guides to the Right Way; so we have come to believe in it, and we will not associate aught with Our Lord in His Divinity”; 2 and that “He – exalted be His Majesty – has not taken to Himself either a wife or a son”; 3 "'And [now we know] that the foolish among us were wont to say outrageous things about God, 4 'But we do think that no man or spirit should say aught that untrue against Allah. 5 ‘And indeed some men among humans used to take the protection of some men among jinns, so it further increased their haughtiness.’ 6 and they thought, even as you also thought, that God would never raise up anyone. 7 We sought to reach heaven, but found it filled with strong guards and flames -- 8 we used to take up a position to listen, but whoever listens now finds a flaming fire lying in wait for him -- 9 We do not know whether by this arrangement God intends benefit and guidance for the people of the earth or only evil. 10 And that some of us are good and others of us are below that: we are sects following different ways: 11 "'And withal, we have come to know that we can never elude God [while we live] on earth, and that we can never elude Him by escaping [from life]. 12 So when we heard the guidance we believed in it; and he who believes in his Lord will neither fear loss nor force. 13 "'Yet [it is true] that among us are such as have surrendered themselves to God - just as there are among us such as have abandoned themselves to wrongdoing. Now as for those who surrender themselves to Him - it is they that have attained to consciousness of what is right; 14 ‘And as for the unjust – they are the fuel of hell.’” 15 If they had followed the right path, We would have provided them with abundant rain -- 16 so that We might try them through this bounty. Whoso turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to suffer a grievous chastisement; 17 "And the places of worship are for Allah (alone): So invoke not any one along with Allah; 18 and when Allah's servant stood up to call on Him, they well-nigh swarmed him. 19
