Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Say (O Muhammad): It is revealed unto me that a company of the Jinn gave ear, and they said: Lo! we have heard a marvellous Qur'an, 1 Guiding to the right way, so we believe in it, and we will not set up any one with our Lord: 2 and that “He – exalted be His Majesty – has not taken to Himself either a wife or a son”; 3 The fool among us spoke against God outrage, 4 We had in fact thought that men and jinns would never speak a lie about God, 5 But there were certain men from mankind who would take refuge with certain males from the jinn and they increased them in tyranny. 6 They thought, as you did, that God would never raise up anyone from the dead. 7 And we have sought [to reach] the heaven but found it filled with powerful guards and burning flames. 8 And that we used to sit in some of the sitting-places thereof to steal a hearing, but he who would (try to) listen now would find a flame lying in wait for him: 9 "'And [now we have become aware] that we [created beings] may not know whether evil fortune is intended for [any of] those who live on earth, or whether it is their Sustainer's will to endow them with consciousness of what is right: 10 And of us there are some righteous, and of us are some otherwise; we have been following very diverse paths. 11 And we have become certain that we will never cause failure to Allah upon earth, nor can we escape Him by flight. 12 When we heard the Guidance, we believed in it, and whosoever believes in his Lord shall fear neither shortage nor injustice. 13 And that some of us are those who submit, and some of us are the deviators; so whoever submits, these aim at the right way: 14 'But those who swerve,- they are (but) fuel for Hell-fire'- 15 If they had followed the right path, We would have provided them with abundant rain -- 16 That We may test them thereby, and whoso turneth away from the remembrance of his Lord; He will thrust him into ever-growing torment. 17 The mosques are for God's worship -- so do not invoke anyone else along with God -- 18 And when the slave of Allah stood up in prayer to Him, they crowded on him, almost stifling. 19
