In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you who have wrapped up in your garments! 1 rise (to pray) the night except a little; 2 of one-half thereof - or make it a little less than that, 3 or add to it a little; and recite the Qur'an slowly and distinctly. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon you a Weighty Word. 5 Surely the rising by night is the firmest way to tread and the best corrective of speech. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations. 7 But keep in remembrance the name of thy Lord and devote thyself to Him whole-heartedly. 8 Lord of the East and the West; there is no Allah save Him; so choose thou Him alone for thy defender - 9 And have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity). 10 Leave Me to deal with the deniers, lords of ease and comfort (in this life); and do thou respite them awhile. 11 Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a flaming fire, 12 and food that chokes, and grievous suffering 13 On the day the earth and mountains will rock violently, and the mountains turn to a heap of poured-out sand. 14 We have sent you a Messenger, who will witness your deeds, just as We sent a Messenger to the Pharaoh. 15 In response Firaun disobeyed the Noble Messenger, so We seized him with a severe seizure. 16 How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? 17 [the Day] on which the skies shall be rent asunder, [and] His promise [of resurrection] fulfilled? 18 Surely this is a Reminder; so let him who will take unto his Lord a way. 19
