Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you who wraps himself [in clothing], 1 Stand up for worship during the night, except for some part of it. 2 For half the night, or reduce some from it. 3 Or add to it, and recite the Quran as it ought to be recited. 4 Verily, We shall send down to you a weighty Word (i.e. obligations, legal laws, etc.). 5 Verily the rising by night! it is most curbing and most conducive to right speech. 6 surely in the day thou hast long business. 7 And remember the Name of thy Lord, and devote thyself unto Him very devoutly. 8 The Sustainer of the east and the west [is He]: there is no deity save Him: hence, ascribe to Him alone the power to determine thy fate, 9 Bear patiently with what they say, and ignore them politely. 10 Leave Me to deal with the deniers, lords of ease and comfort (in this life); and do thou respite them awhile. 11 Surely with Us are heavy fetters and a flaming fire, 12 and food that chokes, and grievous suffering 13 On that day, the earth and the mountains will be violently shaken, and the mountains will be turned into heaps of moving sand. 14 Surely We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We had sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 But Pharaoh disobeyed Our Messenger, so We seized him with a terrible seizing. 16 If you persist in denying the truth how will you escape the Day that will turn the children's hair grey. 17 on which the heaven will split apart, and His promise is done. 18 This, surely, is an admonition. So let him who will, take the right path to his Lord. 19
