Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW)! 1 Stand (to prayer) by night, but not all night,- 2 It may be half the night or a little less than that 3 or a little more; and with recitation, recite the Koran. 4 For We are about to send down to you a message of considerable gravity. 5 Lo! the vigil of the night is (a time) when impression is more keen and speech more certain. 6 Lo! thou hast by day a chain of business. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and, leaving others, devote yourself solely to Him. 8 The Lord of the East and the West-- there is no god but He-- therefore take Him for a protector. 9 And bear patiently the vain things they utter, and gracefully forsake them. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the affluent ones who give the lie (to the Truth), and bear with them for a while. 11 Indeed We have heavy fetters and a blazing fire. 12 and a food that chokes, and a grievous chastisement. 13 (They will come across all this) on the Day when the earth and the mountains shall tremble violently and the mountains shall crumble into heaps of scattered sand. 14 We have sent you a Messenger, who will witness your deeds, just as We sent a Messenger to the Pharaoh. 15 But Pharoah rebelled against the messenger, so We seized him with a strong, crushing grip. 16 Then how can you fear, if you disbelieve, a Day that will make the children white- haired? 17 the Day whose severity shall cause the heaven to split asunder? Allah's promise is ever bound to be fulfilled. 18 This is indeed an advice; so whoever wishes may take the path towards his Lord. 19
