The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
56 verses, revealed in Mecca after Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil) before The Key (Al-Faatehah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn, 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I alone have created, 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 and then he looks [around for new arguments,] 21 frowned and scowled, 22 and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 This is naught but the word of a mortal. 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
