The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise, and warn. 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 Purify your inner self, 4 and defilement flee! 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 but unto thy Sustainer turn in patience. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 it will be a hard day 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And sons present by his side. 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 He looked (at others); 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 and says, "All this is mere spellbinding eloquence handed down [from olden times]! 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
