The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 arise and give warning! 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 purify your garments; 4 stay away from sins 5 Give not, thinking to gain greater 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 whom I have endowed with abundant riches, 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 And again perish he! How maliciously he devised! 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 Burning the skins! 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
