The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise, and warn. 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And all abomination shun! 5 And do not through giving seek thyself to gain, 6 And for the good-will of thy Lord be thou patient. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate. 16 I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 Then he frowned and he looked in a bad tempered way; 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
