The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise and warn, 2 and magnify the glory of your Lord, 3 And your garments purify! 4 shun uncleanness; 5 And do not confer favor to acquire more 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 I will constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Surely he reflected and guessed, 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then he beheld, 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a human being!" 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
