The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise and warn 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 thy robes purify 4 And uncleanness do shun, 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant! 7 When the trumpet is sounded,. 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 Behold, [when Our messages are conveyed to one who is bent on denying the truth,] he reflects and meditates [as to how to disprove them] 18 May he be condemned! 19 Let him be destroyed. How he calculated! 20 Then he beheld, 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
