The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 arise, and warn! 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 purify your garments; 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 And gave him vast wealth. 12 And sons present by his side. 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 and then he looks [around for new arguments,] 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 [Hence,] I shall cause him to endure hell-fire [in the life to come]! 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 We have made only angels as the keepers of the fire (for they are the strongest in carrying out Our commands). Our informing (people) of the numbers of these angels is a trial for the disbelievers. It gives more certainty to the people of the Book and strengthens the faith of the believers. The people of the Book and the believers have no doubt about it. We have fixed the number to make the disbelievers and those whose hearts are sick say, "What does God mean by such a parable?" Thus, God guides and causes to go astray whomever He wants. No one knows about the army of your Lord except He Himself. This parable is a reminder for mankind. 31
