The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn, 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 Purify your inner self, 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 Then when the horn shall be blown, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 whose life I have made run smoothly 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 May be then be accursed, how he plotted! 20 May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around, 21 then frowned and scowled; 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 I shall make him suffer the torment of hell. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Over it are nineteen (angels guarding). 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers – in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers – and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt – and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
