The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise and warn! 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 and purify your clothing, 4 and flee from the statues! 5 Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 And sons dwelling in his presence, 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give him even more! 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 I will cover him with arduous torment. 17 Verily, he thought and plotted; 18 (Self-)destroyed is he, how he planned! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then he looked round; 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians. 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 And We have set none but angels as guardians of the Fire, and We have fixed their number (19) only as a trial for the disbelievers, in order that the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) may arrive at a certainty [that this Quran is the truth as it agrees with their Books i.e. their number (19) is written in the Taurat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)] and the believers may increase in Faith (as this Quran is the truth) and that no doubts may be left for the people of the Scripture and the believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease (of hypocrisy) and the disbelievers may say: "What Allah intends by this (curious) example?" Thus Allah leads astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none can know the hosts of your Lord but He. And this (Hell) is nothing else than a (warning) reminder to mankind. 31
