Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 a warning to humans, 36 to everyone of you, whether he chooses to come forward or to hang back! 37 Every soul is held in pledge against its own deeds, 38 Save the fellows of the right. 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 Why now turn they away from the Admonishment, 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 fleeing -- before a lion? 51 Indeed, each one of them desires to be given unrolled scrolls. 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 By no means! Verily this Qur'an is an admonition. 54 Let him who will take heed: 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
