NAY, but consider the moon! 32 And the night when it departs, 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 it is a warning to man, 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 in Gardens they will question 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 And we used to call the day of judgment a lie; 46 “Till death overcame us.” 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 as if they were startled asses 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 No indeed; but they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, this surely is an admonition: 54 and whoever wills may take it to heart. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
