▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
NAY, but consider the moon! 32 By the night when it withdraweth. 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 As a warning unto men, 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 [On the Day of Judgment,] every human being will be held in pledge for whatever [evil] he has wrought 38 Save those who will stand on the right hand. 39 In Gardens (Paradise) they will ask one another, 40 Of evil-doers: 41 “What drove you to Hell?” 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 So no intercession of intercessors will be of any use to them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Aye! every one of them desireth that: he should be vouchsafed scrolls expanded. 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 And they will not heed unless Allah willeth (it). He is the fount of fear. He is the fount of Mercy. 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
