No, by the moon! 32 by the retreating night, 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 That (Hell) is surely one of the greater (signs), 35 A warning to mankind, 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 who shall be in the Gardens, and shall ask 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 [And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?" 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 Nor did we feed the wretched. 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 What aileth them, therefore, that they are from the admonition turning away? 49 As if they were alarmed donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 No! They do not fear the Hereafter -- 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 So whoever pleases may mind it. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
